The gallbladder is a small, pear-shaped organ located under the liver that stores and concentrates bile produced by the liver to aid in the digestion of fats.
When you eat, the gallbladder releases bile into the small intestine through a system of ducts called the biliary tree. Common problems include gallstones, which can form if bile components become imbalanced, and inflammation called cholecystitis.
